“Yokwe” from Dubuque, Iowa! This week was a blur of craziness! On Monday we found out that all three of us were being transferred and they are closing the area for the time being (with summer coming all our members will be gone.)So we packed and said tons of goodbyes! Then transfers came and I am now in Dubuque, Iowa with Sister Paul! I love the area and my new companion! She is from Cali and this is going to be a good transfer!
Here in Dubuque we have a lot of Marshallese people in our ward! The elders are Marshallese speaking and I even had to conduct the hymn at a baptism in Marshallese…. I am not even sure I am still in Iowa? Dubuque is right on the edge of Wisconsin and Illinois on the Mississippi River. It is pretty here and with the weather being so nice I feel like I was transferred to a different area of the world. We have investigators and a baptism coming up. I am grateful for change!!
Love you all!
“Hope on. Journey on.”
Spring Break proved to be fairly uneventful since everyone was out of town! We finally met with every single one of our members, active and not so active, since I have been here. We did some door knocking and I was reminded why I love bus finding. No one can slam a door in your face. 🙂
We were in and out of doctor’s appointments for one of my companions, which was not the funnest thing for her 😦 Being sick on the mission is frustrating but hopefully we will get all of that cleared up in the next few days.
Transfers are Thursday and we still are waiting to find out who is leaving or staying. Days like these mess with your mind. I feel like I am staying and my companions are leaving BUT when you think you know what is happening is usually when it doesn’t.
New investigator…. kind of (….once we figure out how old he is we will have to pass him off to other missionaries. ) Then meeting with our other investigators that were in town. Overall we had a good week.
I don’t have any funny stories or super exciting news except there is only a thirty percent chance of snow today 🙂 Spring is finally coming!
I love you all!
(A little glimpse into the life of Kelsey, the Sister Missionary)
This week brought me so many more reasons to be extremely happy!
#1 I got Nic and Jess’s package about them having a baby girl in July!!! I can’t stop telling people about that….I am a proud aunt!
#2 A wonderful lesson with an investigator that strengthened my testimony in a living prophet!
#3 A new investigator! I am glad I am learning to get over my fears and just open my mouth! People really do love to listen. She couldn’t get enough information and then she asked if her husband could listen too! Amazing!
#4 The Nauvoo Temple! Since one of my companions hasn’t gone her entire mission(and goes home in a few transfers) we got to go with the family we live with! It never ceases to amaze me how much I can learn everytime I go. I love the peace that is felt at the temple! Plus I got to see a bunch of members from Hannibal that just happened to be at the temple as well.
#5 I’m a missionary so I get to talk to people about the happiest thing that they will ever know.
This week our ward is on spring break so it is a little dead but that just means more finding the people that couldn’t leave for the break. I love you all and have a great week!
I DIDN’T WEAR A COAT THIS WEEK!! I know that might not sound that exciting to all you warm weather people but here it is a miracle! The sun is shining and everyone seems to be in a better mood that we talk to. I think that could explain all the miracles this week!
We finally heard back from two…. yes two 🙂 potential investigators that are now real investigators! The first they have had since they have opened the area six months ago! Finding works even though through the members would be tons more effective! The two we taught soaked in everything we taught and kept the questions coming! It made me remember again why i am out here.
We also had a few activities to encourage our members to invite their friends! The game night on Friday was a success we had two members actually bring friends and we got to all play volleyball which made for a fun night! The Saturday night we had a movie night. It was a fail. But when at first you don’t succeed try, try again:)
I love you all! Have a wonderful week! The gospel is true and we know it so BE HAPPY!
This week was full of service! English conversation group, book sales, Children’s Museum, ReStore. All the service means tons of finding, which is ideal! I was sick with a virus that has been going around the area mostly it makes you super exhausted!
The best part of my week was running into the husband of a lady i met about a month ago. I asked him for her number since I just had given her my number and he was so excited and said she had wanted to get ahold of me to come teach her but had lost my number! Yay! We will see if that pans out 🙂 Also we had zone conference (that is what the picture is), which is always amazing! The spirit is so strong there and I learn so much! You should all watch the CES Devotional if you didn’t get a chance to last night!
I love this ward and I love being a missionary!
P-day Bowling FUN!
